Hybrid Theatre Works is an international

network of theater artists engaged in cultural diplomacy through cross-cultural collaborations.


We aim to re-shape the way theatre is created and experienced through innovative performance projects that address human rights, social justice and peace-building issues either through the content of the final product or in the creation process.





























CREATING THEATRE UNDER VIOLENT RULE- STAGED READINGS AND DISCUSSION

PART OF IRAQ/PAKISTAN EXCHANGE 2011

In June, as part of a week long international residency in NY,

HTW presented  a staged reading from a selection of plays by Amir Al-Azraki & Shahid Nadeem, followed by a panel discussion: Creating Theatre Under Violent Rule, featuring Amir Al-Azraki (Iraq/Canada), Shahid Nadeem (Pakistan) and Waleed Shamil (Iraq).

As part of their ongoing “Artist Response Forum” series, HTW presented brand new works of poetry, performance, dance, and visual art created in response to the Arab Spring. The entire event was live-streamed to a global audience and a lively discussion of the performances on social media connected the live and online audiences.
